The Music Co-curricular programme at Sydney Girls High School offers all girls vocal and instrumental opportunities. We have ensembles to cater for different styles and levels of abilities and participation is encouraged.
The school provides an opportunity for girls to learn a musical instrument of their choosing. Music staff, venues and some instruments are provided. Students who learn through the school or on school instruments are expected to participate in at least one ensemble, once they have achieved a suitable standard.
All instrumental students, regardless of where they learn, are encouraged to participate in the school’s many ensembles. These ensembles provide a wonderful opportunity for students to be part of school life and make friends. Joining the choir is a great way to get involved in the musical life of the school and no formal vocal tuition is required.
Being a member of one or more of the music ensembles gives students the opportunity to perform on many occasions throughout the year. The ensembles participate in school functions and official assemblies, music festivals, competitions and are showcased in the two major concerts of the year, Musicale in term 3 and the Christmas concert in term 4.
The program also offers the junior students a music camp and the senior students a chance to tour.
All students are welcome and encouraged to join the choir, which covers a wide range of music genres and requires no prior experience.
