Courses Offered

  

Technology (200 hrs mandatory course) 
This is a course studied over years 7 & 8. Students complete 6 design projects from different context areas, learning to use different materials and tools. eg. Food Product Development, Architectural Drawing, Textiles Technology, Engineered Systems, Landscape Design, PowerPoint Presentations, Website Design, Publishing a Newsletter.

Design and Technology, Multimedia ( Years 9 and 10)
The course will be based on design projects from a variety of context areas so that students can see the breadth of applications for multimedia presentation. eg industry training, entertainment, education, public information, historical documentation. Students complete design projects using Adobe Photoshop, Macromedia Director and Adobe Premiere. 

Food Technology (Yrs 9 & 10)

The Focus Areas studied are:

Food in Australia, Food for Special Occasions, Food Selection & Health, Food Trends, Food for Special Needs, Food Product Development, Food Equity.

Textiles Technology (Years 9 & 10)

The areas studied are:

Design, Properties & Performance of Textiles and Project Work in the focus areas - apparel, costume, textile arts, non apparel and furnishings.


Graphics Technology (Yrs 9 & 10)

The areas studied are:

The Design Elements, Cartography & Surveying, Graphic Design & Communication, Product Drawing, Australian Architecture, Architectural Drawing, Landscape Design.


Year 11 and 12 Courses

2 Unit Textiles and Design
This course is designed to enable students to understand and appreciate the nature and significance of textiles in our society and to develop skills in the selection, design and manufacture of textile items.

The HSC examination comprises a Major Textile Project (50%) which is developed over 3 terms and a one and a half hour written examination (50%).

2 Unit Information Processes and Technology (Years 9 and 10)
This is a Stage 6 course. The students will sit the HSC exam at the end of Year 10, thereby banking their mark towards their eventual UAI when they do the HSC in Year 12. The HSC is a 3 hour written examination.

2 Unit Software Design and Development
As the name implies this course teaches students about computer programming and software designing and helps them to develop project management skills. The students develop a software program as part of their internal HSC assessment. The HSC is a 3 hour written assessment.

2 Unit Food Technology
This course combines theory and practical work so that students develop knowledge and skills involved in the production, processing and consumption of food, the nature of food and human nutrition and an appreciation of the importance of food to health and its impact on society.

The students develop their own food products to identified briefs as part of their internal assessment. The HSC is a 3 hour written examination.
